A Prayer For The Day

        Grant me, O Lord the strength today
        For every task which comes my way;
        Cover my eyes and make me blind
        To petty faults I should not find.

        Open my eyes and let me see
        The friend my neighbor tries to be;
        Teach me, when duty seems severe,
        To see my purpose shining clear.

        Let me at noontime rest content.
        The half-day bravely lived and spent;
        And when the night slips down, let me
        Unstained and undishonored be.

        Grant me to live this one day through
        Up to the best that I can do
.

Bro. John Hobbs from Abilene and his wife, Mary Etta, will start work with this congregation on June 9, 2002.

Bro. Hobbs is eminently qualified, having preached the Gospel for the past 17 years. He is a conservative Christian preaching only what the Bible authorizes.

Let's all give him our full support as he works with us..

What of Tomorrow

         I do not know what still awaits,
           Or what the morrow brings;
         But with the glad salute of faith,
          I hail its opening wings!

         For this I know - that in my Lord
           Shall all my needs be met;
         And I can trust the heart of him
           Who has not failed me yet.

From the Pen of EDDIE HOWARD....

"Steadfast and Immovable"

         Did your mother ever say, "Be still and don't move!" You knew what she meant but, oh my, how hard that was. Just then, all the itches in the world would attack at once and just then all those things you hadn't needed, noticed or liked, somehow all came into view and became the must-have's in your life. Just then, your "mostest favoritest" friend came out of the house and was playing with the neatest keenest coolest thing that could be imagined. And then the squirmees, you know, those uncontrollable, completely by surprise, muscle spasms, you know the squirmees. And then the inevitable, you're grounded, in trouble, and life as you once knew it became a mere dream.

         In I Cor 15: 58, Paul admonishes us to do a similar thing. "Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable..." He has just exhorted us in the idea that the christian life is a glorious life if we don't weaken. He reminds that for us to get into the next life there has to be a change. That death has no victory in us who belong to God through Christ. But, but, that dishonorable adversary, (remember Sun. a.m.), that dishonorable schemer, all of a sudden, here he comes and all of those things that hadn't bothered us before, that we hadn't noticed or needed, all of a sudden they seem to become the must-have's, must do's in our life.

         I'm so glad there is a finishing part to vs. 58, "...always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord." I can move --- without getting in trouble. There is something for me to do and it's good stuff. Instead of trouble there's blessing. Instead of boredom there's excitement. Isn't that great!! Doesn't that inspire you to with Paul say, "but, Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!" In Christ this life is good and full of blessing. This life is worth living now and will be unexplainably beautiful when my Lord calls me home.

         Are you bored --- get on with it --- be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in God's good works.
