More Comparisons
(Continued from last week)

5. "Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich."
(II Cor. 8:9)
"I get so tired. Every time you turn around, somebody is saying we ought to give, give, give."

Sunday: Missed services because--company came, raining, slight cold, overslept, nothing to wear, slight headache, car wouldn't start, or any of a hundred other like flimsy fabrications."

Monday: On the job at 8:00 a.m. in spite of any or all of above excuses.

Questions: Do the above comparisons suggest anything to you? Do the implications fit anyone you know? Where were you last Lord's day? Last Wednesday evening? During the last meeting? The Lord knows and is keeping a record.
Final examination is coming!!

In every step, in every stride,
I'll let the Saviour be my guide!
His word, His love I will embrace,
And let His wisdom set the pace.

My Thanks to you……
For your prayers, cards and visits. Without these I wouldn't be here today. I need you.
In Christian love and prayer.

Directory Change: Remove the names of Zita Eubanks, Lisa Mitchell & Amanda Mitchell from your directories. They have stated their intentions of not attending services here.

Special Days - April

Anniversaries

COMING EVENTS

March 29 We have been asked to furnish two dozen sandwiches to "Habitat for Humanity" workers. Be thinking about how many you can bring, and let Ed know!!!! (This is a yearly event)

April 03 Lubbock Children's Home gets no money from us. They send a truck once per year to pick up donations of food or other items. This year they are asking us for 100 packages of 33 gallon trash bags. This is not much to ask of a congregation as big as ours. If we start collecting now, and everybody donates a package or two, I believe we can have 150 packages by April 3.

April 6 Daylight saving time begins..

April 6 All church pot-luck friendship meal. Following the meal, the men will have their bi-monthly business meeting.

Our thanks to Jodie Weeks for bringing us three great lessons on Sunday, and for the good job he did leading our song service our thanks goes out to Bro. Mack Key.

Just a reminder that next month we will be getting a new area code (325). You might keep this in mind if you have to order new checks or stationary. Area code 915 and 325 will be recognized for six months, after which only 325 can be used.

From the pen of JOHN HOBBS....

Elder/Deacon Selection Process Begins March 16

This Sunday, March 17, we will start the process to put in elders and deacons. Following the biblical model of Acts 6 and Titus I, we will obey the word of God. Every member needs to be present as we study the works and qualifications of elders.
Here is the timeline we will follow:

March 16 - Sermon #1 on elders
March 23 - Sermon #2 on elders
March 30 - Sermon #3 on elders
April 06 - Sermon #4 on elders
April 13 - Sermon on Deacons. Selection sheets will be handed out.
April 20 - Selection sheets will be due.
April 27 - Names will be announced to the congregation
May 04 - Elders and Deacons will be installed Sunday morning

If you believe a man is qualified to serve as an elder or deacon, you must contact him before you put his name down and turn it in! If you believe a man is not qualified and should not serve, you should go to the man and get things "worked out" (Matthew 18:15). This is the biblical model of Matthew 18 and we are going to follow the Bible here!
Also read the sixth chapter of Galatians.

May God bless us as we seek to be the church He wants us to be.

In Christian Love,
John Hobbs
