Fallen From Grace

Can a Christian fall from grace? In other words, can someone who once obeyed the Gospel be lost? Yes. The religious world may disagree. The Bible teaches that apostasy is possible. Consider the following:

  1. Matthew 7:21-23
  3. Luke 8:13
  5. Acts 1:25
  7. I Corinthians 10:12
  9. Galatians 5:4
11. Philippians 3:13-14
13. I Thess 4:13-22
15. I Timothy 1:19-20
17. Titus 1:16
19. Hebrews 2:1
21. I Peter 1:14-16
23. I John 2:19
25. III John 9
27. Revelation 2: 4
  2. Mark 13:35-37
  4. John 15:5-6
  6. Romans 11:22
  8. II Corinthians 13:5
10. Ephesians 5:11
12. Colossians 1:23
14. II Thess 2:3
16. II Timothy 4:10
18. Philemon 24
20. James 5:19-20
22. II Peter 2:22
24. II John 9
26. Jude 4

Eight Authors, twenty seven letters, and fifty years in the making. Still, the New Testament affirms that it is possible for a Christian to fall from grace.

        Life has
                        many choices.

                                                Eternity has two,

   What is yours?

" I am only one, but I am one.
I can't do everything,
but I can do something,
And what I can do,
that I ought to do.
By the Grace of God I shall do.

-Edward Everett Hale

WHAT CAN I DO?

Like Paul - forget those things which are behind and press forward.
Like David - lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help.
Like Abraham - trust implicitly in my God.
Like Enoch - walk in daily fellowship with my heavenly father.
Like Jehosaphat - prepare my heart to seek the Lord.
Like Moses - choose rather to suffer than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.
Like Daniel - commune with God at all times and in all places.
Like Job - be patient under all circumstances.
Like Caleb & Joshua - refuse to be discouraged because of superior number of foes.
Like Joseph - turn my back on all seductive advances.
Like Gideon - advance, even though my friends are few.
Like Aaron & Hur - uphold the hands of my minister and the leaders of the church with my prayers and support.
Like Andrew - strive to lead my brother to Christ.
Like Stephen - manifest a forgiving spirit toward all who seek my hurt.
Like Jesus - go about doing good.

From the pen of JOHN HOBBS....

Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross

Fanny Crosby was a blind song writer who wrote many, many songs. A lot of those songs are in our hymnbook. One of my favorites is, "Jesus keep me near the cross." When we sing this song, we should "sing with the understanding." (I cor. 14:15) In other words, we should sing thinking about the words we are singing. It is the words that build us up and make us strong. Notice in this song Crosby wrote, "Help me walk from day to day with it's shadow o'er me." How true!! The cross of Christ should be on our minds every day that we live -- not just on Sunday morning when we partake of the Lord's supper. The cross becomes the main reason for everything that we do.
The apostle Paul wrote, "For the love of Christ constraineth us, because we thus judge that one died for all, therefore all died. And He died for all that they that live should no longer live unto themselves but unto Him who for their sakes died and rose again." (II Cor. 5:14-15)
Paul said, "The love of Christ constraineth us." This is Christ's love for us -- not our love for Christ. Christ's love for us compels and motivates us to live for Him.
Notice in II Corinthians 5:14-15 three times in two verses Paul mentions the death of Christ. Because of Christ's love for us we no longer live unto ourselves but we live for Christ. Why? Because He died for our sakes.
The song is biblical -- Jesus keep me near the cross! Amen!
Do you stay near the cross every day? If not, why not?

In Christian Love,
