10 WAYS TO FIND TIME TO READ THE BIBLE

  1. Wake up ten minutes earlier each morning and read.

  2. Put a Bible portion under your pillow to read each night before sleep.

  3. Talk less and you will have a few more minutes to read.

  4. Keep a copy on hand in the kitchen, or at the telephone to read while on hold.

  5. Carry a copy of the Bible in your pocket or purse to read while waiting for doctors, mechanics, late people, etc.

  6. Never go on a trip without a Bible.

  7. Keep a copy in the glove compartment of the car.

  8. Remember, a Bible in your hand is worth two on the table.

  9. Turn the television off and read instead.

10. Read a verse or two at mealtime when the whole family is present.

COMING EVENTS

October 27 - Time change. Run your clock BACK one hour before going to bed Saturday night

I KNOW SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT YOU

Wouldn't this old world be better,
If the folks we meet would say,
"I know something good about your!"
And then treat us just that way?

Wouldn't it be fine and dandy,
If each handclasp warm and true
     Carried with it this assurance,
"I know something good about you!"

Wouldn't life be lots more happy,
If the good that's in us all
Were the only thing about us
          That folks bothered to recall?

Wouldn't life be lots more happy,
If we praised the good we see?
For there's such a lot of goodness
in the worst of you and me.

Wouldn't it be nice to practice
That fine way of thinking, too?
You know something good about me?
"I know something good about you!"

Southgate congregation is planning a Teacher's Workshop for Saturday, November 16th from 9:30 A.M. to approximately 3:30 P.M. All teachers are invited to attend this free workshop. More information is posted on the bulletin board.

In our own backyard

The women's work within the church
    is different than the men's
    But also it's important
For with the children in begins.

Children taught at an early age
To worship and to pray --
Most likely when they grow up
    Within the church they'll stay.

    They learn a Christian's duty
Through the teaching and through songs,
    Children with faithful parents
Are less likely to go wrong.

    Teaching others about Christ
    Sometimes seems very hard,
But the task will be easier
If we start in "our own backyard."

From the pen of JOHN HOBBS....

UPDATE!

On Sunday October 6, we had 72 in Bible School, 102 in morning worship and 70 in evening worship. Some have asked, "when is the last time that Ninth & Main had over 100 people worship? I would like to know that too. Do you remember when that was?
We are making preparations to enlarge the parking lot. We had 53 cars Sunday. We appreciate the younger members parking in our alternate parking places. We as members must go out of our way to make parking easy and accessible for our visitors. This is a must if we are to grow.
Also, we are making preparations to enlarge our fellowship hall. We had approximately 65 to eat with us on Sunday. We had to use one of the classrooms as an overflow room.
Our visitation program is going great. We appreciate all the visits.
In January we will have a Leadership Dinner and discuss the work here. Every member of the church will be invited to come.
We have 19 people enrolled in our Bible correspondence Course. One of those is on her last lesson.
We had many visitors with us Sunday. We received several good, positive comments. Hopefully, these visitors will come back again.
We are studying the book of John on Sunday mornings and the book of Job on Wednesday nights. We encourage every member to study the Bible and attend Bible School.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, October 13. Have a smile on your face and a Bible under your arm.

May God bless and keep you!

In Christian Love,
