SENSE OF A GOOSE

        When you see geese heading north for the summer flying in a "V" formation you might be interested in knowing why they fly that way.
        As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. So by flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.
        Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and very quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front.
        When the lead bird gets tired, he rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point. The geese honk behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
        When a goose gets sick or wounded and falls our, two other geese go down with him to help and protect him. They stay with him until he is either able to fly, or dies. Then they head out on their own to catch their own group or hook up with another one.
        If we had the sense of a goose, we'd realize just how much we really need each other.        -Author Unknown

The Great Encourager

We all need some encouragement
Along this life of days,
And there are always those who help
In their own kindly ways;
A spoken word, a flashing smile,
A visit, letter, call;
Within our hearts we realize
That each of them stands tall,
But there's a great Encourager,
Above and over all,
And He will always lift us up
if we on Him will call.
He is the Christ, the living Lord,
He is our strength and stay;
He is the Great Encourager
Along this life of days.

From the pen of JOHN HOBBS....

OUR BIBLE CORRESPONDENCE COURSE PROGRAM

        Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, he that disbelieveth shall be condemned" (Mark 16:15-16).
        This is often called the Great Commission. Unfortunately, in many churches it has become the Great Ommission. Sad!!!
        At Ninth & Main, we must fulfill this command. How we do it is left up to us! One way we are fulfilling the command is through our Bible Correspondence Courses. When we give as we have been prospered and this money is used to pay for these courses, we are obeying the command of Jesus in the Great Commission! For your information--the total cost of this 8 lesson course is about $8.23, including lessons, postage, envelopes, etc. When a person has finished the 8 lessons, we try to set up a Home Bible Study with him or her.
        Presently, we have 18 who are taking our BCC. I do not know how many are already members of the church. some are taking the course while in jail.
        One of the students wrote, "Thank you for the Bible Study. I enjoy doing them. I do appreciate you for taking the time to send the lessons to me. Thank You. god bless You.! Sincerely Leesa Walton." She was not just thanking me, she was thanking every member at Ninth and Main because you are providing her with the opportunity to study and learn the Bible. I hope that makes you feel proud that you are involved with a good work that is teaching the word of God. It should! As time goes on, this program will continue to grow. It is just "one way" to fulfill the Great Commission. We still need to invite people, visit, teach classes, etc. Agreed???
        May God bless us all as we strive to build the Kingdom at Ninth & Main.

In Christian Love,
