Study of the word. . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . The
Bible is a singular book, indeed. It answers the basic questions of
life. For example, consider the following three questions: How can
we have life more abundantly? How can we know that the testing of
our faith is to make us whole and complete before the Lord? How can
we be sure there is life after death? Satisfactory answers to these
questions are to be found in the Bible, and in the Bible only. We
need to understand that God speaks to us today through the Bible.
That being the case, there is no way we can know what God's will is
for us unless we study the Bible. Paul, the apostle, made a most
interesting observation when he said ". . .for I know whom I have
believed." Are you a student of the Bible and do you follow
Christ? E. Clifford Payne

Brother Can You Paradigm? What
is a paradigm (pronounced
pair-a-dime)? Webster defines
a paradim as, "a pattern or
example." Have you ever heard
someone say, "We can't do that, we tried it once and it didn't
work". Or how about, "We can't do that, we've never done it."
While these might be true statements, they are simply human
excuses for not attempting to make things better. How many
worthwhile projects have not been done because of this kind of
thinking. Or maybe this, "I've
always been on time for every service." Or, "I don't wait to be
asked, I look for ways to serve." What
a difference!! What kind of examples are
we? Remember - "If you always do
what you have always done, you will always get what you have
always got." God Bless, Ed

From
the pen of John Hobbs: |
Do We Really Believe Romans 8:18? Romans 8:18, "For I reckon
that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward." This is a great
Scripture! It is one of my favorites. I have quoted it often and
will continue to quote it. The reason is simple! It helps us endure
the sufferings hardships, problems, pains temptations and persecutions
of this life. Christians look forward to the next life--not this one.
Heaven is in the next life not this life! Paul said it was "very far
better" to die and go be with Christ(Phil. 1:21). Do we really believe
that our true reward is in the next life? Jesus said, "Great is your
reward in heaven" (Matthew 5:12). If we believe these verses, we will
live for the Lord in this life an endure whatever suffering that may
come our way in this life, in anticipation of the "glory" we will
receive in heaven. Paul said, "If we endure we shall also reign with
Him: If we shall deny Him, He also will deny us." (II Timothy 2:12). James said, "Blessed
is the man that endureth temptation, for when he hath been approved,
he shall receive the crown of life" (Revelation 2:10) If we believe Romans 8:18
and these scriptures, we will be motivated to fight the good fight
of faith until the day we die. The best is yet to come for the
faithful Christian. I believe these verses an I hope you do as well.
May God bless you.
