Forgive Me When I Whine

Today upon a bus I saw - a lovely maid with golden hair I envied her - she seemed so gay, and Oh # wished I were so fair When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle, she had one foot and wore a crutch, but as she passed she gave a smile. Oh, god forgive me when I whine; I have two feet - the world is mine.

And when I stopped to buy some sweets, a lad who served me had such charm; He seemed to radiate good cheer; his manner was so kind and warm I said, "It's nice to deal with you, such courtesy I seldom find." He turned and said, "Oh, thank you sir?" And then I saw that he was blind. Oh, God, forgive me when I whine; I have two eyes - the world is mine

And then when I walked down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue He stood and watched the others play; It seemed he knew not what to do I stopped a moment, then I said, "Why don't you join the others dear?" He looked ahead without a word, and then I knew he could not hear. Oh, God, forgive me when I whine; I have two ears - the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I'd go, with eyes to see the sunsets glow, With ears to hear what I should know; I'm blessed indeed, the world is mine.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine!

Answer to last week's question.

  • The book of Psalms is the only book of the Bible to mention God laughing. (Psalms 2:4; Psalms 37:13; Psalms 59:8) [What is the only book in the Bible to mention God Laughing?]

This weeks Bible question:

  • Which Old Testament character used a stone for a pillow?

Answer next week.

NOTICE.........
The address given in the phone book for the Beauchamps is incorrect. Check the bulletin board or with a member for their correct address!

I'm sure they would appreciate a card or letter.

A good time was had by all who attended the Key's Weenie roast and sing-along. Our thanks to them for opening their hope to us so we enjoy Christian fellowship.

We received a card from Gayle Cheek with this greeting:

"This world's a little brighter place because of friends like you, whose warm concern for others shows in all they say and do...
And all of those who've known you will surely say it's so,

That you're some of the nicest folks
This world will ever know,
Thanks so much.

/s/Gayle

Note: The card was accompanied by a letter from Gayle. See both on the bulletin board.

ONE AT A TIME

What Can I Do To Help?
Church growth is not an accident - it's deliberate. Churches that do not have plans or goals for growth usually do not grow. Having goals is nice, but every member must do their part to achieve these goals. Here are some suggestions for helping the church to achieve its goals in attendance and conversions......
We will attempt to include one suggestion in each of the next six issues of The Biblical Messenger

Quill Pen From the pen of John Hobbs:

This Sunday: October 5, 2003

This Sunday is October 5, 2003. Immediately after the morning worship services, we will have a potluck fellowship meal. We are expecting a record crowd. What can each of us do to help? Let me list several things.

  1. Pray that people have an open heart when they hear the word preached (Luke 8:15).
  2. Be friendly? You will see many visitors that you have never seen before. Go to that person and introduce yourself and make them feel welcome and wanted. To have friends, one must be a friend.
  3. Put an extra bean in the pot. We are expecting a record crowd at the potluck. We must have enough food to feed everyone.
  4. For those who are able - park on the west side of the building or on the grassy area on the north side. We will have someone on the grass helping cars park in an organized manner. We had 49 cars last Sunday with only 89 in attendance. If we have 150 in attendance, we would expect at least 75 cars.
  5. Pray for good weather. If we have good weather, we should have a record crowd.
  6. Pray that the letters we have mailed out will work on the hearts of those who read them.

NOTE: We have mailed 388 letters inviting people to come.
NOTE: We averaged 91 in September. This is about a 38% increase over a 16 month period.
If we continue to invite and reach out and preach the Word, we will continue to experience growth.
We are looking forward to seeing your smiling face this Sunday! Bring your Bible and invite a friend.

In Christian Love,
