"Flowers Leave Their Fragrance on
       The Hand That Bestows Them"

This old Chinese proverb, if practiced each day,
Would change the whole world in a wonderful way -
It's truth is so simple, it's easy to do

And it works every time, and successfully, too. . .
For you can't do a kindness without a reward,
Not in silver or gold, but in joy from the Lord -

You can't light a candle to show others the way
   Without feeling the warmth
of that bright little ray. . .

And you can't pluck a rose, all fragrant with dew,
   Without part of its fragrance
       remaining with you.

Answer to last week's question.

  • The first American Bible was printed in the year of 1752 A.D. in Boston, Mass. [In what year was the first American Bible printed?]

This weeks Bible question:

  • What Old Testament character said, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it...."

Answer next week.

"One reason why a dog is such a lovable creature is that his tail wags instead of his tongue."

Deacon Speak

Amendment 1 to the U.S. Constitution begins, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...."
We all know that Christianity is under serious attack by atheists, humanists, secularists and liberals in general. They maintain that religion has no place in American Life and must be removed from schools, government, public life and ultimately from America in general.
Their main argument is what the antireligious call "founding father's intent".
But the founding fathers, including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson had a strong and abiding belief in God.
The founding fathers were intelligent enough to recognize that God is central to mankind. Those who would deny it are, wittingly or otherwise, working for satan and attempting to deny Americans their God given rights: Happiness in knowing Christ as their redeemer; liberty to worship God without restriction; and eternal life itself.
Americans must realize that America's political freedoms are based on Christian principles and that only a widespread Christian faith and general belief in God can keep our political freedoms secure.

We have been notified by the New Mexico Christian Children's Home that their grocery truck will be here during the week of October 6-10. This trip they are asking for cereals, fruit and juices. They will also accept money.

Let us take time... To give God worship, service and communion. To live with our friends while we have them. A coffin is a poor place for a warm handclasp and cheery greeting. To forgive our enemies Jesus found time to do it between the blows of the hammer. To go slower up hill when we are young and down hill when we are old.

Quill Pen From the pen of John Hobbs:

New Testament Greek Course To Be Offered!

This coming Sunday, September 7, at 4:00 P.M., we will have a meeting for all those who are interested in studying New Testament Greek. There will be two options:

  1. A Class will meet here at the building every other Sunday from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M.
  2. A Greek correspondence course will be offered to those who cannot attend class.

I have had several calls from people who are interested in the class. One has come from Mason, Texas. Several are denominational people. This will be a good chance to open the doors for evangelism.

Please pray for the class. Even if you have no plans to take the class, please pray for it.

If you know of anyone who might be interested, please have them call me at 325-944-1715. as soon as possible!!

In Christian Love,

"There is an expectation by God that His people will assemble together in worship. It is in church that we draw near to God, nurture our faith and solidify our hope (Heb. 10:19-25) If we love God, then we will want to draw near to Him, even in church.
We recognize that there are times when one can't attend, but one must never use excuses to stay away. Christians who consistently stay away from church grow weak in their faith and their relationship with God will diminish.
Going to church is not the only way to demonstrate our love for God, but if you love God, where else would you be on Sunday?
