It Is Just A Little Thing

It is just a little thing. so smile...shake a
hand...lend a hand...hug a neck...pat a
back...kiss a cheek...make a call...make a
visit...bake a cake...send a card... send a
flower...give a gift...give a break...buy a
lunch...pay a bill...say a prayer... write a
note ...keep a kid...keep a secret...share a
verse...share a lesson...take a walk...take a
meal...listen a minute...play a game...ask a
favor...remember a birthday...forget a
hurt...bear a burden...mend a fence...tear
down a wall...build a bridge...be a friend...be
a brother.

It is such a little thing,
But it means so much!

  • Which Old Testament character killed a man while holding onto his beard and kissing him?

Answer next week.

COMING EVENTS

August 23 - Leadership dinner here at the building. Following a great meal, we will have a guest speaker. Make plans now to come. Mack & Charlotte Key will be preparing the meal.
September 1 - Elders meet here at the building.

Parable Of The Dead Church

A person once called a pastor to say he wanted to join the church, but went on to say that he did not want to worship every week, study the Bible, visit the sick, witness to non-Christians, or serve as a leader or teacher.
The pastor commended him for his desire to join, but told him the church he sought was in another section of town. The man took the directions and hung up.
When he arrived at the address he had been given, he came face to face with the result of his own apathetic attitude. There stood an abandoned church building, boarded up and ready for demolition.

Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. Philippians 2:14-15

Quill Pen From the pen of John Hobbs:

REASONS TO ATTEND BIBLE SCHOOL

  1. It shows our love for God. We are commanded in Ephesians 5:17; II Timothy 2:14; II Peter 3:18 to study. Jesus said if we love the Lord, we will keep the commandments. (John 14:15-24)
  2. We will be judged by the Bible. (John 12;48; Revelation 20:12
  3. The Bible can save us. (James 1:21; I Corinthians 1:21; Romans 1:16; Acts 20:32)
  4. Our faith comes through the word of God. (Romans 10:17)
  5. We need the Word to grow spiritually. (I Peter 2:1-2; Colossians 1:28)
  6. We are setting the right example.
  7. We enjoy the fellowship and friendship of other Christians.
  8. The Bible is the most thought provoking book in the world.
  9. To be like Christ, I Peter 2:21 tells us to walk in the footsteps of Christ. Luke 4:16 informs us that it was His "custom" to go study the scriptures every Sabbath.
  10. It is practical - where else could we spend an hour of our time more profitably?

The Elders here at Ninth & Main want every member who is able to attend Bible School faithfully and regularly. The elders watch after our souls.(Hebrews 13:7-17)

We want our bible School to grow in numbers. Every number represents a soul. Every soul Will live forever throughout eternity.

Let us all commit ourselves to become faithful in Bible School attendance.

In Christian Love,
John Hobbs
