A
Key To Church Growth
Knute
Rockne was one of the greatest football coaches who ever
lived. In his thirteen years as head coach at Notre Dame,
his teams won 105 games, lost 12, and tied 5. One time an
Army scout missed a train connection and missed scouting
Notre Dame. Rockne heard about it, and mailed the Army
coach the plays he planned on using against Army.
He
explained his action by saying. "It isn't the play
that wins, it's the execution." How true!! All great
coaches agree. Championship teams are made by majoring in
the fundamentals -- blocking and tackling. Occasionally,
a team may win a game by trick or gimmick. But, they will
not be a consistent winner that way.
Great
churches are built the same way - - by majoring in the
basics. The basic fundamentals for church growth are
preaching the word, prayer, visitation, Bible school, and
reaching out to everyone. An exciting, spiritual growing
church is not built on some newfangled idea that no one
ever thought of before. Growing churches are built on
basics!
I want to
encourage everyone to become involved in our visitation
program. We need more involvement.
If you
have an address of someone you wanted invited, please
give me their names and addresses.
On August
23rd at 4:00 P.M. we will have a Leadership Dinner here
in our fellowship hall Everyone is invited. Please inform
Mary Etta or myself as soon as you know you will be
attending. We need to know how much food to prepare.
In Christian Love,
John Hobbs
