KINDNESS

If any little word of ours,
     Can make one life the brighter;
If any little song of ours, can make one
     Heart the lighter;
God help us speak that little word, and
     Take our bit of singing
And drop it in some lonely vale, to set the echoes ringing.

If any little love of ours, can make one
     Life the sweeter;
If any little care or ours, can make one
     Step the fleeter;
If any little help may ease, the burden of another;
     God give us love and care and strength,
To help along each other.

If any little thought of ours, can make
     One life the stronger;
If any cheery smile of ours, can make its
     Brightness longer;
Then let us speak that thought today,
     With tender eyes aglowing
So God may grant some weary one, shall
     reap from our glad sowing.

Answer to last week's question.

  • Samson was the judge of Israel who was blinded by the Philistines. (Judges 16:21) [What judge of Israel was blinded by the Philistines?]

This weeks Bible question:

  • What new Testament character wore a camel's hair garment?

Answer next week.

PRAYER

Each day I pray high God to give me strength anew
To do the task I do not wish to do;

To love and own the truth and scorn the lie,

To yield obedience, not asking why;

To cheer for those who pass me in the race,

To look a cold world in the face;

To bear my burdens daily, unafraid,

To lend a hand to those that need my aid;

To measure what I am by what I give.

God, give me strength that I may rightly

Live.

COMING EVENTS

August 3 - Pot-luck Sunday. There will not be a men's business meeting following lunch today. Instead, the men are invited to the elders meeting tomorrow night, August 4, here at the building.
August 4- Medina Children's Home grocery truck will be here to pick up PINE SOL. Let's give generously. This item is not available at the food bank, so we need to purchase it and bring it to the building or donate cash so they can buy it from their resources.
August 23 - Leadership dinner here at the building. Following a great meal, we will have a guest speaker. Make plans now to come. Mack & Charlotte Key will be preparing the meal.

From the pen of John Hobbs:

Unscriptural versus Antiscriptural

      There are many things that are "unscriptural" that are permissible and acceptable that we do. For example - buying a building in which to worship, using multiple cups in the Lord's Supper, having a visitation program, etc.

      If something is "antiscriptural" it is a sin - I Corinthians 4:6; Matthew 4:4; Galatians 3: 15; Revelation 22:18-19; John 10:35; John 12:48; Revelation 20:12; etc.

      We must be good Bible students and know the difference between "unscriptural" and "antiscriptural.

      The elders have asked us to fill out forms (areas of service) to help them perform their work better. This is certainly "un", but not "anti". Do you agree? Let's all fill them out and get them returned to the elders as quickly as possible.

      Our visitation program is alive and well. Please become involved.

      On August 23 we will have a leadership dinner here at the building. Please make plans to come. There will be no cost. Please let us know as soon as you can if you plan to come. We will have the meal at 5:00 P.M. and then have a speaker.

      May God bless you.

In Christian Love,
