The Snake That Poisons Everybody!

It
topples governments,
wrecks marriages,
ruins careers
bursts reputations,
causes heartaches,
nightmares,
indigestion,
spawns suspicion,
generates grief,
dispatches innocent people
to cry in their pillows.

Even its name hisses.
it's called gossip - office gossip - shop gossip
party gossip.
It makes headlines and headaches.

Before you repeat a story,
ask yourself:
Is it true? Is it fair? Is it necessary?

If not,
keep quiet!

Following evening services on Sunday, June 15, everyone is invited to an ice cream social honoring David & Carrie, who have been worshipping here with us for the past several months.

David is being re-assigned to Keesler Air Force Base for further training, so this will give everyone an opportunity to wish them well.

Our Bible Classes Need Your Support!

If our Bible classes are significant, and they are, then they demand our support. What kind of support is needed for our Bible classes?

Are you helping or hindering our Bible classes? Are you supporting them or are you saying by your lack of support let's stop them? Think about it!

From the pen of John Hobbs:

II Timothy 2:2 - A command from God!

The Apostle Paul wrote in Ii Timothy 2:2, "And the things which thou has heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

Notice in this command Timothy is to teach faithful men who in turn will teach others. This is something we must do.

Marshall Keeble used to take Jack Evans with him on his preaching assignments. Brother Evans is now the head of Southwestern Christian College which helps to train preachers.

I appreciate our elders. They have given their permission and blessing for me to help those who want to preach. They believe like I do, that we must obey the command of II Timothy 2:2. Brother Trent Kennedy has plans to preach. Therefore, I will be supervising Trent with his preaching here at Ninth and Main. Trent will be given the opportunity to preach several Sunday evenings over the coming months. He has the ability and desire to be a valuable preacher in the Kingdom.

Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole creation" (Mark 16;15). One way we can do that is to train preachers! Let's all give our love, encouragement and support to Trent!
