God's Way is Right

There is no way for me to know
       The path in which my feet should go,
To lead me out of darkest night,
       Except God's Word - His Way is right.

From where I stand I cannot see
       Just how He knows what's best for me;
And yet, by faith, and not by sight,
       I walk with Him - god's way is right.

While those around me turn away
       To paths that only lead astray;
Help me abide in heaven's light,
       And live for thee - whose Way is right.

When life is past, and time's no more,
       When saved ones meet on yonder shore,
And now the fullness of delight;
       We'll sing for aye - Thy way is right.

Answer to our last BIBLE question:

  • Jericho is the ancient city also known as the "City of Palms." (Deuteronomy 34:3) [What ancient city (mentioned often in the Bible) is also called "the city of palms"?]

This weeks question:

  • What king had a huge bedstead made of iron?

        Answer next week.

       We as a congregation, gave Brother Phil Palmer and his family $300.00 to help with expenses on their missionary trip to Moshi, Tanzania this month.

       Mike Turk has moved up to Irving to be with family. (See the bulletin board for his address) Please update your directories. Mike would be very pleased if you can send him a card occasionally.

Did You Know. . . . . . . . . . . .
       Many kinds of plants and trees are mentioned in the Bible?

       Noah built the ark out of gopher wood.

       The Hebrews ate cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic while they were in Egypt.

       Elijah sat under a juniper tree.

       Solomon spoke of the cedar trees of Lebanon and of hyssop.

       The brambles mentioned in judges are thought to be blackberry bushes.

       Bro. James Fisher has volunteered to oversee the compilation of a new picture directory that so many of you have asked about. We are going to try to get new pictures of everybody so expect to be asked to have your picture taken.
This is time intensive undertaking and we wish to thank James for his willingness to do it.

Christians at Work

Here ten "Be-Attitudes" or suggestions for those who are attempting to live out their Christian faith on the job:

(1) BE SURE. We cannot effectively speak of Christ in the workplace unless we know for certain that we are in the center of God's will.

(2) BE BALANCED. While hard work is to be valued, we must also maintain the right priorities.

(3) BE NATURAL. What we say is much more likely to be received by co-workers if we do no t adopt a pious sanctimonious attitude.

(4) BE CONSISTENT. Everyone will stumble at times, but the overall pattern of our lives is what counts.

(5) BE HONEST. A lack of integrity even in very small things can destroy a Christian's character and even lead to larger offenses.

(6) BE EXCELLENT. Shoddy work and mediocre performance bring reproach on the name of Christ.

(7) BE PRUDENT. We must be wise in how we dress, what we say, and in our personal affairs.

(8) BE CARING. The way we treat clients, customers, and c0-workers lets them know whether we value performance and profits over persons.

(9) BE POSITIVE. Christians should be known as encouragers and peacemakers.

(10) BE READY. A close walk with the lord is the key to effective evangelism at work. Pray for those with whom you work and be prepared to speak as the opportunity arises.

From the pen of John Hobbs:

YOUR PRAYERS ARE REQUESTED

       The apostle Paul asked brethren to pray for him. I am following his pattern. I am asking that you pray for me.

       We are in the process of selling our house. We want to sell our house and move to San Angelo. We ask you to pray that we can sell our house and move as soon as possible.

       The thought about moving is not pretty. I have so many boxes of stuff you would not believe. However, the thought about living in San Angelo makes me smile. I am looking forward to living in San Angelo.

       Our plans are to move to San Angelo and rent if we have not sold our house by July 15.

       Therefore, please pray for us. I do believe in the power of prayer. James said, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:16).

       I am looking forward to the future of Ninth & Main. I really believe this church has great potential. If we will sow the seed and water, God will give the increase. (I Cor. 3:6).

       May God bless you.

In Christian Love,
